At Equinox, our goal is to provide you with information to help you accelerate the growth of your business. We do this through our services but also through our Equinox Focus programs. Each month we highlight a topic of interest to business owners, providing strategy, operations, and legal context to help you balance the issues of business and law. We will incorporate the Equinox Focus theme through all our communications, including newsletters, blogs, and seminars and bring to you not only our perspective, but ideas from other experts in the field. If you have suggestion for a program or topic, please email us.
Succession planning is a critical component of creating value in a business for the future. It allows a business to have a plan of action should an owner volunarily or unvoluntarily depart the business. The succession planning process, though, can be time consuming and force difficult decisions. For these reasons, many business owners avoid succession planning. Our guests this month will address what succession planning is and provide some guidance on how to get it done!
A brand is more than just a pretty logo. It is a critical asset of a business with value that impacts the bottom line. Branding effectively is about connecting with customers, clearly and consistently communicating the right message through everything you do. This month, we'll discuss how to create a brand strategy and leverage it to grow the bottom line of your business!
Changes are occurring on a global scale faster than ever. Business has never been more competitive than in the 21st century. To increase profits, ensure sustainability and create value, business owners and investors are recognizing that businesses must do things differently. Currently 75% of private business owners are not increasing the value of their firms. Professional and personal success and fulfillment now requires a new way of thinking, acting, and behaving. We'll explore how these issues impact our businesses today and how we can think differently about business to leverage them for sustainable value.
Succession Planning: What it is and how to do it successfully
Business owners constantly hear about the importance of succession planning – yet most don’t really address it until very late in the game! Good succession planning is far more than retirement preparation – it needs to also address scenarios when an owner leaves the business, opts to reduce his or her role within the business, and other management changes. Advance groundwork can reap significant and meaningful benefits you may not have considered. Join us for a panel discussion with key succession planning advisors who will help you understand and plan for:
* Preparing your business to get the best selling price
* How a succession plan fits into your business
* Creating a comprehensive succession plan
* Scenarios to consider in creating a succession plan
* Discussing succession issues with owners, executives and family members
* Valuation resources and buyout scenarios
* Funding the buyout
