Michelle Bomberger is an experienced businesswoman turned lawyer and founder of Equinox Business Law Group (formerly Small Business Legal Services), a law firm offering services focused on the unique issues business owners face throughout their lifecycles.
Michelle’s career in working with small businesses and entrepreneurs began while she attended graduate school at Northwestern University in Chicago. She earned a Doctor of Law degree (JD) from the School of Law and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. By pursing a dual degree, Michelle prepared to blend business and legal training to become a full-service resource for small businesses. While in graduate school, Michelle was a founding member of the Small Business Opportunity Center at Northwestern University School of Law and served as president of the organization. Through the center, she provided both legal and business advice to nonprofit and for-profit small businesses.
Michelle has extensive experience in working with companies from Fortune 500 to one-person home-based businesses. She is also an entrepreneur. She not only runs her own law firm but also owned two restaurants in Bellevue, WA. This unique combination of lawyer and business skills brings valuable insight into Michelle's work with entrepreneurs and business owners. Before launching the firm, Michelle gained extensive experience in business operations and technology as a consultant with Ernst & Young LLP, and as senior manager of auditing services at Cingular Wireless, where she worked directly with C-level executives to implement process improvements across business functions. She gained knowledge that allows her to understand the practical and results-oriented demands faced by businesses beyond their legal needs.
Prior to pursuing her graduate education, Michelle Bomberger received an undergraduate degree in Finance and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame. She is an active member of the King County Bar Association and Washington State Bar Association, where she has served as the Chairperson of the Law Office Management Assistance Program. Lauren Burgon began her career in the law as a litigator in a small Seattle firm focusing primarily on personal injury matters. Lauren left the practice of law after several years to raise her two children. During her time away from the law, she became very involved in numerous local businesses and nonprofit organizations, providing her with a deep working knowledge of small business management and Board level relationships. Lauren was employed as an office manager in a West Seattle veterinary clinic, where she worked closely with the clinic’s management to serve both animal patients and human clients.
Lauren also served on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit nursing organization Visiting Nurse Services of the Northwest. She sat on the Executive Committee for most of her tenure, first as Board Secretary and later as Vice Chair.
